I was born with a Brachial Plexus injury in my left arm. I have a limited range of motion due to this injury and have to consistently work on my arm. Since I was born, I was active through occupational therapy, physical therapy, hippotherapy, gymnastics, and swimming. I have had to work very hard to overcome my limitations due to my injury.
But I love to workout; I played soccer, and ran track in high school and continued playing soccer on the Walsh Women’s Reserve team. I began lifting in high school. Sometimes I will look funny while doing exercises because some of the muscles in my shoulder do not automatically fire, I must actively think about which muscle to use in order to avoid compensation. However, my injury has not set me back!
When I went to college I began to hone my skills and my understanding of working out. My favorite classes in school have been biomechanics and anatomy and I love applying what I learned in those classes into my workouts.
In the fall of 2020, I will be attending Walsh University to begin a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. I love working with others and helping people reach their goals, so to combine my two loves, I decided that I wanted to be a personal trainer with Intelligent Fitness as well. I am excited to embark on the many journeys I will begin with training and therapy.
