My goal as a Trainer is to help every client to be comfortable and confident in the way their body moves. Most people are often concerned about where they are going, that they overlook how they are moving to get to that goal. My desire is to be there to show you the ‘how’ of moving your body so that you may move with purpose and efficiency. With this purpose, I will work to help you push past your limitations and become functional not only in your workout but in the many ways you move throughout life.

Movement has always been a big part of my life. Ever since I was a kid, I found great excitement in almost any energetic activity. I loved the challenge of pushing my body and spirit through exercise, and the edge of competing in sports. Throughout most of my teen years, sports was basically all that exercise was for me until my late teens when my desire to improve my abilities and increase the challenge led me to try some cardio/agility video workouts at home that my brother did. This began to open the greater world of fitness to me, and I quickly found that I loved working out. I did not have a lot of guidance when I started out, which made it a struggle for me to sort out between the fads and the realities of exercise. I was determined to follow my passion for movement and the more I learned and followed my heart, the more I started to understand what was purposeful and true within the realm of fitness. As I learned more I also began to find more people with purpose and passion toward fitness to help guide and support me.

I tried weightlifting for the first time in college. Strength training is where I found my biggest passion in fitness. Now, I enjoy almost any type of exercise, but let me tell you, when it comes to lifting weights, I love that challenge. If you believe in that kind of thing, then I would say I was made to lift weights. At the time, my family had a membership at a community gym, and I went for the first time with a few of my siblings. I had not been to many gyms before and only really knew how to use the treadmill and bikes. As soon as I saw my brother doing back squats with the barbell, I knew I had to do it. Lifting weights lit a fire in me for the challenge of getting stronger.

The more I worked out, the more I became obsessed with challenging myself and getting stronger, not only that, but I also became obsessed with controlling my movements and moving my body functionally. Fitness became my time to feel grounded and be myself. Of course I worked out to be strong and healthy, but fitness became so much more than that for me. I worked out to work through stress, anxiety, and to push myself to grow as a person and find empowerment within myself.

I did not start learning much about fitness as a profession until I was in college. I was studying music in college, and while I loved music, there was a part of me that did not feel right about where I was at. The idea of going somewhere more with fitness drew me, but it still felt like a far-off idea, a ‘what if’. It was not until after I finished my bachelor’s degree, and I was continuing to further my education in music that I was able to accept that I was burnt out and I needed to step back to take time to figure out what was not working for me. My heart told me that I should follow my love for fitness further and see where it goes.
